5.0 out of 5 stars Reminded me of the Golden Age of Detective Novels!, August 6, 2009
By Carole Gill (England) - See all my reviews
Memoirs of Bear reads like the best of the golden age detective novels.
There are few Detectives as interesting as Bear Williams, part Apache--and all American hero! He's hugely engaging.
It seemed to me as I read the novel, I wasn't reading fiction. Bear was talking to me--telling me abou… Continue

Brian,
If I win I'll have to hire Doc as a body guard to try and protect me from Jack. Now that is a brawl I would pay to see.

Hi Tom,

Death by tickling could take a very long time. If you win, how about I send Jack across with his nice long, sharp, gleaming knife to make a good clean job of it...hehe

Good luck my friend.

Well sir, I've just finished reading Memoirs of Bear. That was a fantastic read. I don't read a lot of crime fiction, so I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not, but I loved it. It's paced well, the story is fun, and Bear and Doc are great characters.
Congrats on a strong novel.
Sean.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for comment on my blog. Yes, Tilly is a real canine heroine. I'm so proud of her, and yes, 'her' book will be out very soon. she's also narrating a new dog training manual that animal behaviorist Brian Gallagher and I are writing at present. It approaches dog training from the 'canine perspective' and tries to show what goes through a dog's mind when we, as humans try to get them to do what we want them to do. We're trying to get people to 'think dog' when they are training their canine friends instead of trying to get the dog to think human. It's not been officially announced yet but the book is under contract to Mythica.

Best regards

Brian

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your support too. Actually if you read some of her stuff, you'd think it an insult to the eighth grade. And 'Dipshit' was one of the kinder things she called me...hehe

Would love to see what they make of your stuff there.

Best regards my friend.

Thank you for your most erudite explanation Tom. Now that you have made it clear I understand the nuance of the title. I wish you much success with your wonderful book. Of course, in India we have simply changed many place names to remove traces of the old days of empire. I'm not sure it is necessarily a good thing but Bombay has become Mumbai, Madras is now Chennai, and so on. I think perhaps that such changes often confuse the visitor who may be in seach of history.

My best wishes to you for a happy day.
